May 1, 2021, General Election

An election will be held on May 1, 2021, to elect three Council members. The City contracts with Archer County Elections for this election.

The new Lakeside City Community Center located at 4344 TX-79 will be the Early Voting and Election Day voting center location.

The candidate filing period for a place on the ballot will be January 13, 2021, to February 12, 2021.

Early Voting will be conducted between April 23, 2021, and April 27, 2021, at the designated vote center location.

  • City Council – District 2, Place 2 (WEST)

2021 Election Schedule:

  • December 14, 2020 – Deadline to post notice of candidate filing deadline
  • January 1, 2021 – First day to apply for a ballot by mail
  • January 13, 2021 – First day to file for a place on the General Election ballot
  • February 12, 2021 – Last day to file for a place on the General Election ballot and Last day to Order General Election or Election on a Measure
  • April 1, 2021 – Last Day to register to vote
  • April 19, 2021 – Last day to apply for a ballot by mail
  • April 20, 2021 – Last Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail (Received, not postmarked)
  • April 19-23, 2021 – Early Voting – 8 AM-5 PM at Lakeside City Community Center
  • April 26 & 27 – Early Voting – 7 AM – 7 PM at Lakeside City Community Center
  • May 1, 2021 – Election Day at Lakeside City Community Center and Last Day to Receive Ballot by Mail

Candidate Information

It is the responsibility and honor of the City Secretary’s Office to conduct and oversee the City Council election process for the City of Lakeside City. Elections are conducted annually on the Uniform Election Day in May (the first Saturday in May.)

However, Texas Election laws regarding campaign finances and legal matters limit the role of the City Secretary’s Office to accepting and filing the various candidate applications, affidavits, and statements and noting the date of filing.

Filing requirements are per state statute, and those of the Election Code Section 141.001:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be 18 years of age upon the commencement of the term to be filled at the election
  • Have been a resident of Texas for at least 12 months as of the deadline for filing for the office
  • Have resided in the city for at least 6 months as of the deadline for filing for the office
  • Not have been convicted of a felony for which he or she has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities
  • Not have been found mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court.
